Insulin Dosing for Fat & Protein – HP Upskilling

Traditionally for people with type 1 diabetes we have focused on how much insulin is needed to manage glucose levels after eating carbohydrate foods. Anecdotally people with type 1 diabetes have been telling us how meals high in fat and/or protein also affects their post prandial BGLs. Now we have some research and guidelines to help people with type 1 diabetes to manage the effects of carbohydrate, fat and protein on their post prandial BGLs. Dr Carmel Smart has been actively involved in the research and guideline developmant and will share those findings in this session.
