SUMMARY:Digital Competencies for Health Service Managers: Empirical Findings and Systemic Implications | Online
DESCRIPTION:The Australasian College of Health Service Management is grateful to be able to welcome Mark Brommeyer AFCHSM CHM\, Senior Lecturer in Health Care Management\, Flinders University as our guest speaker for the ACHSM College live webcast 2025 series. \nAmidst the global backdrop of digitally transforming enterprises\, a research project has been completed that aimed to identify the competencies required for health service managers (HSMs) in managing and enabling digital transformation within the Australian healthcare context\, and organisational level strategies in contributing to the development of HSMs’ competency and capability. \nThe study adopted a qualitative approach\, guided by the empirically validated management competency identification process\, employing three steps: (1) health management and digital health competency mapping; (2) scoping review of literatures and policy analysis; and (3) focus group discussions (FGDs) with HSMs. The first two steps informed the design of the FGDs. \nThis presentation will provide empirical insights into the HSM workforce readiness and development needs for digital health\, and recommendations regarding the healthcare system\, policy\, organisational\, and local factors supporting HSMs in enabling digital health transformation. \nThroughout this live webcast you have the opportunity to submit your questions to Mark via our moderator for the live Q&A session following the main presentation\, the Q&A and webcast event will be moderated by ACHSM Board Director\, Prof Andrew Way AM FCHSM CHE. \n  \nProgram:\n5mins     Introduction\n25mins   Presentation\n25mins   Live Q&A\n5mins     Thank you\, event concludes \nRegistration fee inc GST\nSingle ACHSM member: FREE\, registration essential\nSingle non-member $50\nGroup of 15 or less $99\nGroup of 15+ $199 \n  \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER

SUMMARY:The challenges of Implementing palliative care and voluntary assisted dying in a changing social and health system environment | Online
DESCRIPTION:The College is grateful to be able to welcome Camilla Rowland\, Chief Executive Officer\, Palliative Care Australia (PCA) as our guest speaker for the ACHSM College live webcast 2025 series. \nThe Australian health system has traditionally delivered end of life care through palliative care services and other health specialties such as oncology and primary health over the decades.  With our rapidly growing ageing population and the introduction of Voluntary Assisted Dying legislation now across almost every State and Territory\, it is critical to consider the impact on the health systems and services\, and indeed all health professionals. This webcast considers the barriers and opportunities of how the health system needs to change to address patient-centred care and support the practices of health professionals. \nThroughout this live webcast you have the opportunity to submit your questions to Camilla via our moderator for the live Q&A session following the main presentation\, the Q&A and webcast event will be moderated by ACHSM College President Dr Neale Fong FCHSM CHE. \n  \nFor further information and to register CLICK HERE.

SUMMARY:Webinar #5: An Introduction to Emotion Regulation
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Sarah Dansie\, Workforce Development\, MHC \nTarget audience: Clinical and support workers in the alcohol and other drug (AOD) and mental health specialist sectors. \nPlease note: This webinar is a brief\, stand-alone version of the one-day workshop ST343 Emotion regulation delivered on the AODtraining@MHC Calendar. \nEmotion regulation is the ability to manage and respond to emotional experiences in a socially tolerable way. It includes being able to reduce the intensity or duration of emotional states or changing the expression of the emotion to achieve a more positive outcome. Emotion regulation generally increases across the lifespan\, however\, it is a skill that requires development. \nAOD use can be one of the strategies people adopt to regulate their emotions\, which can be helpful in the short-term\, but often not effective in the long-term. It makes sense then that many people who access AOD treatment services can have difficulty managing strong or overwhelming emotions and may have limited strategies outside of AOD use. \nThis training aims to assist the worker to: \n\nDevelop an understanding of emotion and emotion regulation\,\nExplore the skills needed to support people to better identify\, understand and manage their strong emotions\,\nIdentify strategies that will help people respond to overwhelming emotions in constructive ways.
