SUMMARY:Youth in Distress: Blended Learning
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n  \n\n\nProgram Outline\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWith a focus on self-harm and suicide in adolescence\, this program will assist clinicians to manage youth in distress\, self-harm and suicidality. \nThe program has been designed to build on the current level of skills of participants and to further develop confidence in undertaking risk assessment and safety planning for youth in distress. \nModule 1 will need to be completed prior to the commencement of module 2. DESCRIPTION:Gatekeeper Suicide Prevention is a two day workshop designed for professionals and para-professionals in the human services whose roles bring them into regular contact with people at risk of suicide. This workshop aims to help participants: \n• Gain an understanding of the problem of suicide\n• Identify suicide risk\n• Provide a framework for risk assessment and intervention\n• Develop appropriate intervention skills\n• Understand the limits to confidentiality\n• Understand the importance of consultation\n• Gain an understanding of self-harming behavior\n• Gain an understanding of the link between mental disorders and suicidal behaviours\n• Understand the importance of postvention \nNote: Participants need to be aware that the workshop is intense and demanding. DESCRIPTION:  \nNOTE: All times listed are AEDT/AEST \nGPs often play a central role in the provision of healthcare to communities in the immediate\, acute phase of emergency situations\, and on an ongoing basis for the long-term recovery of individuals and their broader community. \n  \nEmergency Service Workers are one of the high-risk groups for trauma exposure and are more vulnerable to developing mental health problems. These mental health conditions have significant impact on their employment\, family/relationships\, and wellbeing. \n  \nThis workshop has been designed with a focus on GPs\, to diagnose patients with acute stress disorder\, post-traumatic stress disorder and other comorbidities. Evidence based guidelines will be used as the foundation to appropriately diagnose and identify treatment pathways including recommended referrals\, trauma focused psychological therapy and psychological first aid to help support their management of emergency service workers. DESCRIPTION:  \nNOTE: All times listed are AEDT/AEST \nGPs often play a central role in the provision of healthcare to communities in the immediate\, acute phase of emergency situations\, and on an ongoing basis for the long-term recovery of individuals and their broader community. \n  \nEmergency Service Workers are one of the high-risk groups for trauma exposure and are more vulnerable to developing mental health problems. These mental health conditions have significant impact on their employment\, family/relationships\, and wellbeing. \n  \nThis workshop has been designed with a focus on GPs\, to diagnose patients with acute stress disorder\, post-traumatic stress disorder and other comorbidities. Evidence based guidelines will be used as the foundation to appropriately diagnose and identify treatment pathways including recommended referrals\, trauma focused psychological therapy and psychological first aid to help support their management of emergency service workers. SUMMARY:Webinar: Your role in advance care planning: measuring outcomes one year after the new Advance Health Directive release
DESCRIPTION:Join Dr Jacquie Garton-Smith and Dr Mariam Bahemia for an interactive discussion focusing on use of the updated Advance Health Directive (AHD) in WA. \nThere is currently low uptake of AHDs across Australia\, including WA. Increased uptake of Advance Care Planning (ACP) and completion of AHDs is expected to reduce the disparity between treatment preferences and delivered care. \nThis session will explore the role of GPs in advance care planning\, including supporting patients to prepare AHDs. We will also share a new mini-audit activity for ACP and AHD that can be used to review whether opportunities to introduce ACP or AHD conversations into consultations\, assessments and care plans are being maximized. \nOptional completion of the mini-audit will earn GPs 6 Measuring Outcomes CPD hours. \nThis webinar is delivered in partnership with the WA Department of Health.

SUMMARY:ECG Interpretation Course - Session 3: Acute Coronary Syndrome
DESCRIPTION:This course provides case based review of ECG interpretation for nurses\, doctors & paramedics. \n \nECG interpretation is a complex skill that requires practice and experience. Using a framework for interpretation helps provide foundational knowledge to develop and maintain the skills needed to interpret ECGs accurately. Using real-world experience\, this course will link ECG interpretation to patient case studies to help you focus on identifying the key aspects of analysis including: \n\nBasic ECG anatomy including waveforms\, complexes and intervals.\nAbnormal ECG tracing for patients with common cardiovascular conditions including Atrial Fibrillation\, Heart Blocks\, Bundle Branch Blocks and ST changes.\nECG interpretation of significant cardiac conditions including ACS.\nThe role of ECGs to determine appropriate treatment plans including referral to specialist care.\n\nDuring this course\, you will acquire a structured approach to analyzing ECGs including a step-by-step method for evaluating rhythm\, rate\, axis\, intervals and morphology to ensure a comprehensive and accurate interpretation based on the patient’s clinical presentation. \n  \nTo optimise your learning\, this course will be delivered via webinars with practice points following each session with interactive case studies. Additional skills videos will be included demonstrating management of abnormal ECGs including cardioversion and transthoracic emergency pacing. You will also have the opportunity to engage with your peers and the presenters during the live webinar via Zoom chat and online community. \nThe live events will be delivered at the below times. SUMMARY:Diagnosis and Treatment of PTSD in Emergency Service Workers
DESCRIPTION:  \nNOTE: All times listed are AEDT/AEST \nGPs often play a central role in the provision of healthcare to communities in the immediate\, acute phase of emergency situations\, and on an ongoing basis for the long-term recovery of individuals and their broader community. \n  \nEmergency Service Workers are one of the high-risk groups for trauma exposure and are more vulnerable to developing mental health problems. These mental health conditions have significant impact on their employment\, family/relationships\, and wellbeing. \n  \nThis workshop has been designed with a focus on GPs\, to diagnose patients with acute stress disorder\, post-traumatic stress disorder and other comorbidities. Evidence based guidelines will be used as the foundation to appropriately diagnose and identify treatment pathways including recommended referrals\, trauma focused psychological therapy and psychological first aid to help support their management of emergency service workers.
