DESCRIPTION:**REGISTER HERE BY 9TH SEPTEMBER** \n  \nTarget audience: Workers in the alcohol and other drug (AOD) and mental health specialist sectors. \nPresented by: Dr Donna Mak\, Public Health Physician\, Communicable Disease Control Directorate School of Medicine\, University of Notre Dame with an expert panel from the AOD sector. \nDetails: People who experience AOD-related issues or mental health conditions can be at higher risk of contracting Blood-Borne Viruses (BBVs) and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI). Raising these issues with consumers can be uncomfortable\, but workers in the AOD and mental health sectors do play a role in the treatment and prevention of STIs and BBVs including syphilis. Syphilis\, once associated with men who have sex with men and sex workers\, is now a significant concern as at-risk groups have now expanded to include pregnant women\, heterosexual men and women\, and people experiencing mental illness\, AOD issues\, homelessness and unstable accommodation. \nWhile the main focus of this webinar will be syphilis\, the information discussed will be relevant to other STIs and BBVs. General practice health professionals have several important roles in the NBCSP\, including encouraging and supporting participation\, managing participants who have a positive FOBT\, providing information about referrals to the NBCSP\, and managing individuals who\, by way of symptom(s) or significant family history\, require diagnostic investigations or targeted surveillance rather than screening. \nIn this three-part webinar series\, an array of experts from across Australia will present on various topics related to bowel cancer screening\, including the latest research on those who do not screen and why; the National Bowel Cancer Screening program; and the importance of the appropriate use of colonoscopy . Part three\, Gastroenterologist Dr Hooi Ee will discuss the appropriate use of colonoscopies including when to start and stop surveillance for patients; how to communicate the benefits and risk to patients\, and when to refer a patient back to the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program after a colonoscopy.

DESCRIPTION:Primary care practitioners play a crucial role in ensuring improved health outcomes for people with hepatitis B\, through testing\, diagnosis\, informed clinical management and support of individuals and families. \nIn 2020\, an estimated 222\, 559 people were living with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) in Australia\, with 27% undiagnosed and 77.4% were not engaged in regular care (Viral Hepatitis Mapping Project: National Report 2020). \nGuideline-based management and treatment of CHB can prevent liver cancer\, with CHB being the primary cause of liver cancer worldwide.
