The three leading injury areas affecting people from multicultural communities in WA are drowning\, intentional self-harm\, and violence. With a number of health programs out there already tackling these prevalent issues\, how do we better engage with multicultural communities to address these areas of concern? \nJoin Injury Matters as Deborah Pyatt\, a training consultant with 30 years of experience working with diverse communities\, will be facilitating this interactive and engaging workshop. DESCRIPTION:Elder abuse is a serious public health issue\, estimated to affect 1 in 20 older adults in Western Australia. It can take many forms\, including financial\, social\, physical\, sexual\, psychological\, and emotional abuse\, and can occur in a range of different settings. Elder abuse can have ongoing health impacts on an individual\, such as physical injury\, poor mental health\, and increased risk of placement in residential aged care. \nAs with many forms of abuse\, it can be difficult for an individual experiencing elder abuse to speak out. SUMMARY:Hepatitis B Case Discussion
DESCRIPTION:This case discussion evening will be facilitated by Simon Hazeldine an experienced gastroenterologist with extensive expertise in hepatitis B\, and will take place via webinar. \nIn this case discussion participants will discuss a range of Hepatitis B cases which will include different approaches to diagnosing\, treating and managing people living with hepatitis B. \nThis interactive training provides HBV prescribers and other primary care clinicians with an interest HBV\, an opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills to practical cases spanning diagnosis to treatment initiation and ongoing monitoring. Case scenarios are developed by ASHM clinical advisors or local experts to meet the identified learning needs of ASHM’s HBV prescribers\, which vary from each State and Territory. \nAttendees are also encouraged to submit their own cases for discussion. You can receive a second HBV CPD point by submitting and discussing one of your own de-identified patient cases on the night. DESCRIPTION:Appointments are available in our student-led exercise physiology clinic at the\nWA Centre for Rural Health (WACRH) in Geraldton. \nAppointments are available in our student-led exercise physiology clinic at the\nWA Centre for Rural Health (WACRH) in Geraldton.\nPeople attending the clinic are seen by Exercise Physiology students supervised by an Accredited\nExercise Physiologist.\nWe can offer services for a range of conditions including but not limited to:\n• Arthritis • Osteoperosis • Osteopenia • Cancer\n• Cardiovascular Conditions (e.g. high blood pressure)\n• Diabetes • Mental Health conditions (e.g. depression)\nAll students provide assessments and an exercise program designed to increase function\, increase\nstrength and improve health.\nClients will also receive a home program to enable them to maintain their progress. \nWho can attend:\nNo doctor’s referral is required and anyone is eligible to attend. A doctors clearance may be required\non screening. It is particularly suited to those who have difficulty accessing other exercise physiology\nservices.
