SUMMARY:Diagnosis and Treatment of PTSD in Emergency Service Workers
DESCRIPTION:This workshop has been designed with a focus on GPs\, to diagnose patients with acute stress disorder\, post-traumatic stress disorder and other comorbidities. Evidence based guidelines will be used as the foundation to appropriately diagnose and identify treatment pathways including recommended referrals\, trauma focused psychological therapy and psychological first aid to help support their management of emergency service workers. DESCRIPTION:The Rural Health West CPD REACT+ workshop is designed to assist Western Australian Visiting Medical Practitioners to maintain their emergency knowledge and skills\, and gain formal assessment towards their emergency credentialing\, as required by WA Country Health Service. Covering medical emergencies\, major trauma and cardiac arrest in adults and children\, and associated lifesaving procedural skills training. REACT+ is a highly interactive workshop. DESCRIPTION:Injury Matters\, through the Stay On Your Feet® program\, are delivering a 2-hour training workshop on ‘Medication and falls in older adults’ with presenters Dr Andrew Stafford and Dr Tin Fei Sim. The workshop will provide participants with the knowledge and confidence to identify and assess for falls risk in older adults and recommend the appropriate interventions. \nThis workshop aims to: \n\nIncreased knowledge of common medicines that can increase the risk of falls.\nIncreased knowledge in deprescribing for falls risk and what the current evidence suggests.\nIncreased skill in identifying patients who may have an increased risk of fall and discussing ways to prevent these.\nIncreased confidence in discussing medicines as a risk factor for falls.\nIncreased knowledge in identifying falls risk screening tools currently used in the Australian healthcare setting.\nIncrease confidence in discussing the role of pharmacists in reducing falls risks in older adults.\n\nThis workshop is aimed at pharmacy students\, early career and practising pharmacists. \nThis activity has been accredited for 1.5 hours of Group 1 CPD (or 1.5 CPD credit) suitable for inclusion in an individual pharmacist’s CPD plan\, which can be converted to 1.5 hours of Group 2 CPD (or 3.0 CPD credits) upon successful completion of relevant assessment activities. \nFREE REGISTER HERE
