SUMMARY:Understanding Neuroception & the Human Response to Trauma:  A workshop highlighting the importance a sense of safety is for our children & teens.
DESCRIPTION:Suitable for parents\, carers\, educators\, school staff\, counsellors\, psychologists\, allied health professionals\, youth justice employees\, community mental health workers\, NDIS workers\, child protection employees and anyone with young people in their life who have been impacted by trauma. \nThis workshop aims to support understanding of trauma as well as meeting the needs of children\, young people & adults who have experienced complex trauma. \nThis workshop is based on years of research\, clinical experience and professional learning in the areas of trauma\, neurodevelopment & behaviour support. \n  \nLearning Outcomes \n​ \n\n\nGain an understanding of the Neurobiology of Attachment\, how trauma disrupts attachment (and attachment styles)\, and ways to support. \n\n\nUnderstanding the different types of Trauma and its effects on the individual \n\n\nHow to look at behaviours through a ‘trauma lens’\, to explore and understand the behaviour and ways to support. \n\n\nGain an understanding of trauma triggers\, and how trauma continues to ‘live in the body’. \n\n\nUnderstand how trauma impacts brain development & memory. \n\n\nHow trauma in early childhood affects behaviours\, emotional responses & executive functioning. \n\n\nThe importance of safe environments & relationships. \n\n\nIdentify links between ADHD\, Autism and Trauma \n\n\nUnderstanding interoception\, neuroception and how these can be impacted by trauma \n\n\nUnderstand trauma based behaviours (including aggression) and how we can develop and apply positive behaviour support strategies \n\n\nUnderstand a variety of ‘trauma-informed’ strategies built on the foundation of how trauma impacts brain development & the psychobiology of trauma. \n\n\nThis full day workshop is based on the work and research of Dr Bruce Perry\, Dr Stephen W. Porges (founder of Polyvagal Theory)\, Dr Bessel Van Der Kolk (author – The Body Keeps Score\, Mind\, brain & body in the transformation of Trauma)\, Dr Dan Siegel\, and Dr Dan Hughes (founder of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy\, and P.A.C.E)\, including others. \n​ \nFull Day Workshop – $350 per person.
