DESCRIPTION:The Mater­ni­ty Emer­gency Care (MEC) course is designed to enable the health work­force to devel­op the knowl­edge and skills nec­es­sary to pro­vide emer­gency care for preg­nant\, birthing and imme­di­ate­ly post­na­tal women\, and their babies. \nCRANAplus encour­ages par­tic­i­pants to apply the knowl­edge and skills learnt with­in the con­text of the poli­cies of the employ­ing health ser­vice and with­in each individual’s own scope of practice. \nWho is this course for? \nThe MEC course will meet the learn­ing needs of the remote and iso­lat­ed health work­force (Nurs­es\, non-prac­tis­ing mid­wives\, Abo­rig­i­nal and Tor­res Strait Islander Health Workers/​Practitioners\, Para­medics and Med­ical Officers). \n  \nCourse deliv­ery \nThe CRANAplus Mater­ni­ty Emer­gency Care course con­sists of the fol­low­ing components. \n\nOnline pre-course mate­ri­als and assess­ments that must be com­plet­ed one week before the workshop\nAtten­dance at a two-day face-to-face work­shop con­sist­ing of guid­ed dis­cus­sions\, prac­ti­cal skill sta­tions and con­text based scenarios\nTwo indi­vid­ual sce­nario based clin­i­cal skills assessments\n\nOn suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of this course\, clin­i­cians will be able to… \n\nDemon­strate the prin­ci­ples of unplanned or emer­gency man­age­ment of a preg­nant & labour­ing woman and care imme­di­ate­ly after childbirth.\nAssess and man­age to the fol­low­ing mater­nal and neona­tal complications:\n\nPre-term labour\nBleed­ing in pregnancy\nDia­betes\nHyper­ten­sion\nPre-eclam­p­sia\nMater­nal trau­ma\, dete­ri­o­ra­tion and resuscitation\nNeona­tal Resuscitation\nPost par­tum haemorrhage\n\n\n\nFam­i­ly Vio­lence and Peri­na­tal Men­tal Health are also discussed.

DESCRIPTION:The Remote Emer­gency Care (REC) course is designed by remote health clin­i­cians for remote health clin­i­cians. The course is con­tex­tu­alised to the remote and iso­lat­ed prac­tice\, with cur­rent evi­dence-based con­tent with­in a cross-cul­tur­al frame­work aligned with Nation­al Stan­dards. By using a blend­ed learn­ing approach\, clin­i­cians will devel­op the knowl­edge\, skills and con­fi­dence to recog­nise an emer­gency\, pro­vide ini­tial sta­bil­i­sa­tion and man­age a range of med­ical and trau­ma presentations. \nCRANAplus encour­ages clin­i­cians to apply the knowl­edge and skills acquired learnt with­in the con­text of the poli­cies of the employ­ing health ser­vice and with­in each indi­vid­u­al’s own scope of practice. \nWho is the course for? \nThe REC course is designed to facil­i­tate a per­son­alised learn­ing expe­ri­ence for the remote and iso­lat­ed clin­i­cian (Nurs­es\, Mid­wives\, Abo­rig­i­nal & Tor­res Strait Islander Health Workers/​Practitioners\, Para­medics and Med­ical Offi­cers) who may be required to pro­vide emer­gency care to the crit­i­cal­ly ill or injured patient. \nFor many employ­ers REC is a manda­to­ry pre­req­ui­site to work in remote locations. \nIf you have any queries about the course or its rel­e­vance to your prac­tice\, sub­mit an enquiry here. \n  \nCourse deliv­ery \nThe REC course uses a blend­ed learn­ing approach: \n\nOnline pre-course mod­ules that must be com­plet­ed one week before the course\nAtten­dance at a two day face to face work­shop con­sist­ing of guid­ed dis­cus­sions\, prac­ti­cal skill sta­tions led by high­ly expe­ri­enced clin­i­cians\, and con­text based scenarios\nA basic life sup­port clin­i­cal skills assess­ment (Option­al)\nAn indi­vid­ual sce­nario based assessment\n\nOn suc­cess­ful com­ple­tion of this course\, clin­i­cians will be able to… \n\nDemon­strate ini­tial assess­ment and man­age­ment of a seri­ous­ly ill or injured client in the remote and iso­lat­ed setting.\nPer­form a sys­tem­at­ic pri­ma­ry sur­vey to iden­ti­fy actu­al or immi­nent life threat­en­ing pre­sen­ta­tions and pro­vide life­sav­ing inter­ven­tions to estab­lish a client’s air­way\, breath­ing and circulation.\nCon­duct a sys­tem­at­ic sec­ondary sur­vey to col­lect addi­tion­al infor­ma­tion and per­form a com­pre­hen­sive phys­i­cal assess­ment to detect oth­er sig­nif­i­cant but not imme­di­ate­ly life-threat­en­ing injuries or conditions.\nDemon­strate accu­rate doc­u­men­ta­tion and com­mu­ni­cate a clear con­cise han­dover of find­ings and inter­ven­tions using the ISBAR approach.\nPer­form Basic Life Sup­port as per Aus­tralian Resus­ci­ta­tion Coun­cil guide­lines. SUMMARY:DV Alert Foundations Workshop
DESCRIPTION:DV-alert is a nationally recognised training program with training and assessment delivered by Lifeline Australia and approved third parties on behalf of Lifeline Australia (RTO 88036). The program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services as a key initiative under the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022-2032.DV-alert is led by experienced trainers dedicated to ending violence against women and children. Our workshops provide a safe space for frontline workers to learn\, connect and be empowered to recognise and respond confidently to those in crisis \n  \nDV-alert is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services for frontline workers\, paid and volunteering\, who provide service and support to the community in the health\, allied health\, education and community sectors to learn how to Recognise the signs of domestic and family violence\, Respond appropriately and Refer to support services. \n  \nDV-alert has flexible learning options to support frontline workers who encounter people who are experiencing\, or at risk of\, domestic and family violence. Whether you are looking to obtain the unit of competency\, to upskill and refresh your knowledge or just to know what to do\, there is a learning pathway for you. \nAttending either the 2-day Foundations workshop or the 2-day First Nations workshop is the best place to start your learning journey\, whether you are seeking accreditation or not. These workshops will train you on how to recognise the signs of domestic and family violence\, how to respond appropriately and how to make effective referrals. \nOnce you have completed any 2-day face-to-face\, or 3-day virtual\, DV-alert workshop you can return again and again to build on your knowledge by attending the 1-day focused face-to-face workshops each covering different topics and contexts where domestic and family violence occur: Women with Disability\, First Nations\, Multicultural\, Engaging with Interpreters\, Men who use Violence and Gendered Violence in Diverse Communities. \nOnce the required courses of the Assessment pathway have been completed\, learners will be eligible to enrol in an assessment session which is aligned to the nationally recognised unit of competency CHCDFV001 Recognise and respond appropriately to domestic and family violence. Upon successful completion of the assessment\, a Statement of Attainment will be issued by Lifeline Australia RTO 88036.
