SUMMARY:Immunotherapy: supporting patients in their cancer treatment
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE  \nGPs have an important role in supporting patients receiving immunotherapy. Immunotherapy can cause various side effects which can occur at any time and can affect individuals differently. When problems occur\, it is important to identify which ones constitute an emergency requiring referral back to the treating specialist or a hospital admission\, and which can be initially managed at home. With good supportive care\, side effects are minimised\, leading to better quality of life for the patient and less distress for them and their family. \nAt this webinar\, Dr Piyush Grover will discuss strategies to support patients receiving immunotherapy including how to recognise and manage both acute and late side effects and how to determine when a specialised approach is required. \nOn the morning of Thursday 23 March an email will be sent to registered attendees which will contain a link to join the webinar. You will be able to join the webinar by clicking the link. \n7.00pm – Welcome and introductions \n7.02pm – Presentations \n\nDr Piyush Grover\, Medical Oncologist/ Immuno-Oncology Research Fellow\, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital\n\n7.45pm – Questions & discussion \n8.00pm – Webinar close \nLearning Outcomes: \n\nDescribe the types of immunotherapy cancer treatments available\nSummarise the importance of prompt management of side effects\nDescribe the most common side effects of immunotherapy including how they are best managed in general practice\n\n\nIdentify when to refer a patient back to their specialist for consultation\n\n

SUMMARY:Be prepared with Safer Baby Bundle eLearning
DESCRIPTION:On Monday 1 February\, Red Nose Australia\, with the support of partners Stillbirth Foundation Australia and Stillbirth CRE\, launched a new national public awareness campaign designed to raise awareness about stillbirth and help reduce the stigma associated with stillbirth. As this campaing launches\, we expect more pregnant women will have questions about stillbirth prevention for maternity healthcare professionals. Each course in the eLearning takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and provides essential training for obstetricians\, midwives\, nurses\, general practitioners and antenatal staff. The eLearning modules are complemented by a wide range of resources for both professionals and pregnant women to support the identification of risk factors and improve the management and care of women for safer pregnancies. \nFind out more at the Stillbirth Centre of Research Excellence website.

SUMMARY:Insulin Dosing for Fat & Protein - HP Upskilling
DESCRIPTION:Traditionally for people with type 1 diabetes we have focused on how much insulin is needed to manage glucose levels after eating carbohydrate foods. Anecdotally people with type 1 diabetes have been telling us how meals high in fat and/or protein also affects their post prandial BGLs. Now we have some research and guidelines to help people with type 1 diabetes to manage the effects of carbohydrate\, fat and protein on their post prandial BGLs. Dr Carmel Smart has been actively involved in the research and guideline developmant and will share those findings in this session.
