STI and BBV Nursing: An Introduction – Zoom

Nurses and midwives play a crucial role in the prevention of blood borne viruses (BBVs) and sexually transmissible infections (STIs).

Nurses and midwives can draw on invaluable communication skills and are well placed to identify priority populations for screening. Through a case study, presentations, interactive quizzes and online learning module, this two-part online workshop will provide nurses and midwives with the introductory skills to incorporate STI and BBV screening within their workplace.

This course will be presented in two 1.5 hour Webinars via Zoom
Part 1: Tuesday 15 February 2022, 7:00-8:30pm (AEDT)
Part 2: Tuesday 22 February 2022, 7:00-8:30pm (AEDT)

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Describe the clinical presentation of common STIs and BBVs
  2. Identify the priority populations for STI and BBV
  3. Explain the importance of testing and screening for STIs and BBVs
  4. Demonstrate confidence in offering STI and BBV screening to patients
  5. Discuss the process for contact tracing and Identify resources to assist
