Valuable Conversations for reducing the impact of alcohol use during child-bearing years
The Mental Health Commission’s Valuable Conversation training is designed to increase confidence in delivering Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) prevention. The training covers:
• Reflective Practice as a tool to improve the way we work with clients.
• Trauma Informed Care and Practice to help us recognise why alcohol use may happen in pregnancy.
• Motivational Interviewing to better understand and express empathy towards our clients.
• FASD prevention using the National Strategic Action Plan to guide us in providing holistic care.
• Brief Interventions to bring together new knowledge and skills practise with the AUDIT-C and ‘Five As’.
This event does not provide information on FASD diagnosis or treatment.
