Strategies to support work participation for clients/patients living with chronic pain

Attend this webinar to enhance your ability to support people with chronic pain to participate in work that benefits their health and wellbeing. 

The panel will discuss the case study of a person who is experiencing chronic pain navigating the workplace.

Meet the Panel

  • Dr Irina Hollington specialises in pain medicine with interests in chronic pelvic, abdominal and perianal pain conditions affecting women and men.
  • Catherine Ketsimur is an Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) Pain Physiotherapist with extensive musculoskeletal physiotherapy experience.
  • Professor Michael Nicholas is a Clinical Psychologist and Director of Pain Education and Pain Management Programs at the Pain Management Research Institute, University of Sydney and Royal North Shore Hospital.
  • Erin O’Donnell is a Rehabilitation Counsellor and has worked within the Injury Management industry for over 15 years. 
  • Facilitator: Steve Trumble is a general practitioner and Head of Medical Education at Melbourne Medical School.


Learning Outcomes:

Through an interdisciplinary panel discussion of a case study, this webinar will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to:

  1. Identify the challenges for clients/patients with chronic pain engaging with and participating in the workplace, including psychological, pain-related, and work environment obstacles.
  2. Discuss practitioner challenges in helping clients/patients with chronic pain to constructively engage with the workplace.
  3. Discuss the risks and opportunities for clients/patients with chronic pain participating in work.
  4. Recommend ways to facilitate safe and sustainable work participation for clients/patients with chronic pain.
