Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid Training – July 2022

Learn how to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing problem or in a mental health crisis.

DURATION 14-hour course, typically conducted over 2 days.

Each year 1 in 5 Australians experience a mental illness.
Many people are not knowledgeable or confident to offer assistance. Physical first aid is accepted and widespread in our community, however most do not cover mental health problems.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches people how to help a person who is developing or experiencing a worsening of a mental health problem, or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional treatment is received, or the crisis resolves.

Led by a Mental Health First Aid Australia accredited trainer, this course integrates an Aboriginal cultural perspective and explores Aboriginal social and emotional wellbeing, mental health problems in indigenous communities and strategies for working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
