Testing and treating hepatitis C in general practice is a key strategy to prevent hepatitis-related complications including cancers, and for achieving elimination of hepatitis C in NSW and Australia. This session aims to increase GP confidence in identifying patients for testing, prescribing DAAs and understanding when specialist referral is needed for HCV care. The Monitored Medicines Prescribing Code came into effect on 12 December 2024, replacing the Schedule 8 Prescribing Code. This update focuses on the key changes to the prescribing of monitored medicines under the Code, including changes to the prescription of S8 stimulant medicines, medicinal cannabis and opioids as well as changes regarding ScriptCheckWA .
