Anthea Buckley

Occupation:  Speech Pathologist

What are your professional interests/specialities?
I enjoy working with paediatrics, specifically within the areas of AAC and early intervention. I am PROMPT trained, an intervention approach used for assessing and treating speech sound delays and disorders.

Tell us, where you are from and how did you get to be a Speech Pathologsit in the Midwest-Gascoyne region?
Originally from Mandurah, I moved up to Geraldton after being connected to my current work by Rural Health West. Having completed my final university placement in Derby, I knew the metro hustle and bustle wasn’t for me and was eager to explore more of WA’s regional towns.

What do you love about the Midwest-Gascoyne?
I love its location and all the outdoor adventures that come with it. There’s always somewhere new to explore or a hobbie to try no matter the season. It’s also just that little bit hotter than Perth.

Did you always want to be a Speech Pathologist?
I knew I wanted to be apart of something within Allied Health but it wasn’t until after attending a university open day that Speech became a high interest.

What are your passions?
I love sports and travel. Since moving to Geraldton I’ve been able to explore so much more of Northern WA with still lots left to tick off the list.

When you aren’t working, where will we find you?
Hopefully at the beach! Anything involving the sun and salt water and I’m a happy chappy.
