    Traditionally for people with type 1 diabetes we have focused on how much insulin is needed to manage glucose levels after eating carbohydrate foods. Anecdotally people with type 1 diabetes have been telling us how meals high in fat and/or protein also affects their post prandial BGLs. Now we have some research and guidelines to help people with type 1 diabetes to manage the effects of carbohydrate, fat and protein on their post prandial BGLs.
